Chocolate Mousse

eggless and scrumptious
Serves 10 in today's one bite dessert world
4 cup water • 100

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup water

  • 100 grams of sugar

  • 200 grams of dark chocolate (chopped/cubed, I like to use 85% cocoa Lindt or Ghirardelli)

  • 1/2 tablespoon of dark rum, brandy, or liquor of your choice (optional)

  • 1 cup of heavy cream

  • 1 teaspoon of instant coffee powder

Instructions

  • Boil the sugar in the water over medium heat in a saucepan

  • Once it's fully melted and combined, add the chocolate and stir further, it should be okay to stir it off the heat because the hot syrup should suffice

  • Add the liquor and stir further

  • Wait for the chocolate mixture to cool down

  • Beat the heavy cream and coffee in a mixer bowl until soft peaks form

  • Stir the cream into the chocolate bit by bit

  • Chill in dessert glasses and serve after a few hours

  • Garnish options include:
    Candied orange
    Whipped cream
    Chocolate Shavings
    Cherries
    Strawberries
    Pistachios

Adjustments and additions

  • Use 150 grams of chocolate instead of 200 grams if you don't want a strong mousse

About Me

Growing up in the colonial capital of India, Calcutta- I have been fascinated by culture, creative and culinary splendour since a very young age. Not only has this made me a keen traveller, but it has inspired me to learn about people, places and food. It has led me to experiment in the kitchen. Living between Boston and Calcutta inspires me and continues to shape my palate.
